Matt grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He played college basketball at Dickinson where he lettered 4 years serving as the captain his senior season. He also helped lead the Dickinson Red Devils to 2 NCAA D3 tournaments in his 4 years there. When Matt, his wife April and 5 children relocated to Nacogdoches in 2000 for a business opportunity, the whole family immediately became fans of the SFA Men’s Basketball team under the direction of Coach Danny Kaspar. Matt and Danny remain good friends to this day.
Matt choose to get involved with helping to start a NIL collective for SFA because he strongly believes that the competitive landscape for recruiting top talent has changed significantly with the introduction of the NIL program. For SFA to be able to attract top basketball players, there must be viable and sustainable NIL support. He also excited about the opportunity for these student-athletes to get involved with many of the non-profits in Nacogdoches County through the NIL Sawmill 6th Man. It is a win for the student-athletes, the university and the community.
Matt can be reached at matt.rocco@etechgs.com. He encourages anyone who wants to get involved or learn more to contact him directly.
